Privacy Policy

StandCoach is a menu-bar app that helps you build a standing-desk habit. It is designed to keep your data on your Mac. The only data that ever leaves your Mac is optional, anonymous usage analytics (off by default) and — if you buy the one-time unlock — the purchase itself, which is handled entirely by Apple. This policy explains both, and exactly what is and isn't collected.

The short version

Everything works offline. Your schedule, standing history, streaks, and desk pairing are stored only in macOS UserDefaults on your own Mac. They are never uploaded.
Analytics is OFF by default. Everything works offline; analytics is optional, and nothing is collected unless you turn on “Share anonymous usage data” in the popover.
Purchases go through Apple. If you buy StandCoach Pro, Apple processes the transaction through the App Store — StandCoach never sees or stores your payment details.
No personal data, ever. No name, email, account, precise location, browsing history, keystrokes, screen contents, or health data is collected. There is no StandCoach account.

What we collect (only if you opt in)

If — and only if — you enable analytics, StandCoach sends anonymous, aggregate-level usage events through Google Firebase Analytics. These events describe how the app's features are used, for example:

App launched; a sit or stand period started/finished; a stand prompt was shown, completed, or snoozed.
A week was advanced, repeated, or reset; a rest day was taken or skipped.
A setting was changed (notification style, week-start day); the standing-desk integration was enabled, connected, or commanded to move.
The paywall was shown, or a purchase was started, completed, or restored — recording only that the event happened, never any payment or card details.

Alongside these events, Firebase automatically records a randomly generated app instance identifier and coarse technical context (device model, macOS version, and an approximate region derived from your IP address, which Firebase does not expose to us at a finer grain). This is standard, non-identifying analytics metadata.

What we never collect

Your name, email address, or any account — StandCoach has no sign-in.
Precise location or your IP address (Firebase derives only a coarse region; the raw IP is not retained by us).
The actual heights of your desk, or any health/fitness measurements.
Anything you type, any screen contents, or any other app's data.
We do not sell or share data for advertising. Ad personalization is disabled in the app's Firebase configuration.

Your control

Toggle “Share anonymous usage data” off at any time in the popover. Turning it off stops all collection immediately.
Because the data is anonymous and not tied to an identity, there is no personal profile to access or delete.

Bluetooth

If you enable the optional Standing desk feature, StandCoach communicates with your desk over local Bluetooth Low Energy to raise and lower it. This is a direct, on-device radio link — no desk data is sent over the internet.

Purchases

StandCoach Pro is a one-time purchase. Apple handles the entire transaction through the App Store — StandCoach never sees your payment method, card, or billing details, and stores none of them. The app only receives a yes/no entitlement (“is StandCoach Pro unlocked?”) from Apple's StoreKit, kept on your Mac in UserDefaults. There is no StandCoach account and no purchase record on our side; Apple is the processor for the payment.

Data processors

When analytics is enabled, usage events are processed by Google as part of Firebase Analytics. See Google's Firebase Privacy and Security documentation for how Google handles this data.

If you buy StandCoach Pro, the transaction is processed by Apple through the App Store; see Apple's Privacy Policy for how Apple handles it.
